Pitching Your Startup in the New Normal + LatAm Tech

Join the GlobalSouthTech (GST) community on Thursday, June 4, 5PM (EST) for an intimate conversation with tech leaders around the world.

As we navigate the pandemic, we are discovering that some digital experiences are more effective and cheaper than their physical equivalents, such as media, gaming and more. Startups and companies that rely on a physical footprint will have a challenging time ahead. In this discussion we will talk about how best to pivot, pitch tech startups in the current climate. And we will also discuss the current climate in Latin America.

In this discussion we will focus on:

  • Tech being propelled by a shock to the physical world, how to best position tech startups with this new opportunity?
  • Insights around how to pitch, pivot, and scale tech startups in this new normal.

Our speakers will be:

Jonathan Nelson ( CEO of Hackers/Founders) - Hackers&Founders is the largest group of tech founders globally with 200,000 members in 118 cities in 44 countries. Hackers/Founders accelerator, H/F Co-op, has worked with 50 startups that have a combined market capitalization of $400 million. In 2016, he was appointed by the SEC to a committee on small and emerging businesses. Jonathan also advises other government programs such as Startup Chile, and has worked with the White House and former mayor Bloomberg’s office on immigration reform. Jonathan is also working on the Identify, fund and invest in startups that bring targeted innovation and business growth to a corporate partner.

Lynne Bairstow (Partner of MITA Ventures) - Lynne is a founding partner of MITA (Mita Institute and Tech Accelerator). MITA Ventures provides capital and mentorship to early-stage technology startups in Mexico with global growth potential, as well as later-stage funding for proven Silicon Valley, LatAm, or Asia-Pacific companies expanding into the Mexico/LatAm market. Bilingual and bi-cultural, Lynne has cultivated a deep network within Mexico business and governmental entities, and with their U.S.-based counterparts, to offer unique benefits to MITA Venture's portfolio companies.
