Our Story

A Network Built Over Years of Collaboration

The NY Tech Alliance was born from the desire to unite the tech community of New York City, starting as two separate organizations - the New York Tech Meetup and the NY Technology Council. Over the years, we have evolved through strategic partnerships, including our merger with Civic Hall and The Fedcap Group, to amplify our impact and reach.

2004

NY Tech Meetup

NY Tech Meetup (NYTM) was established as a monthly gathering to showcase innovative tech demos and foster community.

NY Technology Council

The NY Technology Council (NYTECH) was founded to provide programming, advocacy, and networking.

2009

2016

NY Tech Alliance

NYTM and NYTECH merged to form the NY Tech Alliance, creating the largest regional tech membership organization in the U.S.

Merger with Civic Hall

To deepen its roots in the community of NYC, the NY Tech Alliance merged with Civic Hall.

2021

The Fedcap Group

In 2021, Civic Hall was acquired by The Fedcap Group, eventually relocating to the Zero Irving building at Union Square.

A Unified Community

Today, the NY Tech Alliance operates as part of The Fedcap Group’s community of leaders and non-profit organizations with ties to New York.

We bring together founders, technologists, and innovators through NY Tech Meetups and other programming—events designed for real connection and idea sharing. Our membership offer resources, mentorship, and visibility to help members grow and lead in NYC’s tech ecosystem. At our core, we’re committed to equity and inclusion, building partnerships that expand access and drive meaningful change.

Organize the world’s largest Meetup group, NY Tech Meetup - a monthly gathering of our members.

Host Forums and Tech Talks that connect founders and innovators for intimate, inspiring conversations.

Provide membership programs for individuals and organizations to stay engaged through exclusive access and group initiatives.

Share resources including curated content, tools and support to help members start and scale their ventures.

Advocate for policies and practices that promote equity and growth across NYC’s innovation economy.

Amplify the work of underrepresented voices and innovative ideas through collaborative, group-oriented work.
