As part of our ongoing commitment to women and diversity, we’ve dedicated a total of $40 million of Northwestern Mutual Future Ventures funding to invest in startup companies founded by women and Black entrepreneurs.

The Northwestern Mutual Black Founder Accelerator powered by gener8tor is gener8tor's first accelerator exclusively focused on advancing Black founders.

Northwestern Mutual’shi, Tech program scales local tech education capacity via K12 outreach exposing students, teachers, and parents to what's possible with tech hi, Tech also annually invests dollars, along with in-kind support and thought leadership, in nonprofit and startup partners that scale computer science via tech-focused programs, teacher development and more.

Northwestern Mutual’s Internship was recognized as one of the top 100 programs by WayUp. The #NMtech Internship Program is part of our commitment to giving diverse students real-world opportunities and a rigorous, rewarding early career experience that ultimately strengthens the tech talent pipeline. Northwestern Mutual is building relationships with diverse talent, opening the door for future tech talent to the possibility of a tech career by investing in and supporting organizations and events like:

  • Women in Tech Conference to provide professional development content and an engaged network of support to women technologists and their allies – last year, we hosted this event for the second time with a record 4,536 registrants and featured 60 speakers from 30 companies across the country.
  • Hispanic IT Executive Council (HITEC) to help grow influential Hispanic tech executives while developing the next generation of leaders.
  • Blacks in Tech (BIT) to help increase the representation and participation of Black people in the tech industry.
  • AfroTech Global Conference to bring together leaders in tech and business to exchange ideas and build a strong Black tech community.
  • Black Data Processing Association (BDPA) to help develop diverse talent and future IT leaders in STEM and all digital technology fields.
