Heard It All Before - We drive people connection and music discovery through music sample themed game experiences.

Kristen Daniel, Founder, Heard It All Before

After a daydream about her broken turntables during the early lockdown in 2020, Kristen Daniel created Heard It All Before to help players discover the history of music through their favorite music samples. Friends and family began to play throughout the quarantine era of the pandemic. They started sending messages and song links every time they would recognize music samples throughout their daily life, sharing the game with their circles as they continued to play. Kristen began to see how sample-themed game experiences can become a powerful source of musical discovery for music lovers and learners alike. With early feedback in tow from prototyping and testing, Kristen shifted from tinkering with a passion project to leveraging her history working across multiple disciplines and industries to execute her vision, turning the project from prototype to product in less than a year.
Kristen’s work experience touches nearly every point in the value chain of this venture. Daniel spent her early career selling specialty retail packaging to multinational brands. Traveling and working internationally, she then spent a decade developing skills in technology and startups, working at MailChimp during its rapid growth stage and founding two award-winning social enterprises–becoming one of the first female founders to receive an investment from Sarah Blakely, inventor and founder of Spanx. In recent years, Kristen worked as a business model and design strategist for multiple brands including The Honey Pot Company, one of the fastest growing plant-based femcare wellness brands in retail. Her current work includes enterprise digital transformation in the energy & utilities sector. Through her experience developing launch and growth frameworks for her clientele using product strategy and experience design techniques, she was able to supervise the design, creation, and production of the physical components of Heard It All Before in addition to managing the engineering partners for the game’s digital component. Kristen has an MBA from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Florida A&M University.
