Casting Call: Learn the Basics of Silicone Casting!

This workshop is for people who have always wanted to make a silicone cast, but have been too afraid to jump into the wide and complex world of cast making. Fear not, for this talk and step-by-step live demonstration will teach you the ins and outs of casting, silicone, and mold making. All experience levels are welcome, but this class is geared towards people with little to no experience with silicone mold making. You won't be getting your hands dirty on this day, but the vacuum equipment will be available to use at NYC Resistor Craft Nights later.

Addison Worthington is a current graduate student at NYU ITP who developed a love and passion for silicone in undergrad when he took a special FX makeup course. After many failed casts and ruined clothes, Addison is now versed in mold making for 3D print casting, and has a love of fabrication and silicone.

N95 masks are required.

As with all NYC Resistor events, this class is 18+ and governed by our Code of Conduct. The Code of Conduct, as well as accessibility information, can be found at www.nycresistor.com/participate/.
