Feature Talk #1: Fashionable AI
Abstract: The current trends in large foundation models have big implications for developers looking to address the needs of specific domains. This talk will dive into how to evaluate, compare, and extend open source foundation models for domain-specific applications.
Speaker Bios:
Jeff Smith is an AI R&D leader and author. He was previously a Senior Research Manager at Meta's Reality Labs leading research and development for EMG-based neuromotor interfaces for AR. At Meta, he also supported projects such as Papers with Code, CICERO, ESMFold, Galactica, and PyTorch. Prior to Meta, he helped build the startups x.ai, John Done, and Intent Media. He wrote the books Machine Learning Systems and Exploring Deep Learning for Language.
Saurav Pandit is an AI leader, working in the intersection between AI and creativity, including NLP and Vision AI. He spent the last few years in the world of stock media at Pond5 and Shutterstock working on how to understand audiovisual content and natural language search for such content. Before that he spent time with various early startups like Galileo (healthcare) and Olmo (professional networking) building semantic knowledge stores. He also served as advisor for several early startups like Rare Carat, Atolla, John Done and Live XYZ. He spent two years as a faculty at the University of Notre Dame before moving to New York to start his career in Data Science. He currently serves on the Advisory Board for AI2030, a global initiative at the forefront of the responsible AI movement.
Feature Talk #2: Build Agentic AI with AutoGen
Abstract: AutoGen is an open-source framework for agentic AI, helping develop complex workflows with conversational agents and patterns. In this session, learn the core concepts and conversational patterns for building multi-agent AI applications with LLMs.
Speaker Bio: Jack Gerrits is a Principal Software Develpment Engineer on the Decision Service and reinforcement learning at MSR NYC. He primarily focuses on the core machine learning system, and working with research to drive innovations to production.
